Jordan Schnitzer, in a partnership with the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at University of Oregon, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU, and Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at PSU is establishing an $150,000 Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art Artist Grant in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. Each Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will award twenty $2,500 grants to artists who use their voices, experiences, and artistic expression to reflect on social justice efforts in response to systemic racism and the Black Lives Matter movement. The Department of Public Health announced an update to the City’s face covering requirements amid the current surge in COVID 19 cases and hospitalizations. The new rules, which went into effect at midnight, require anyone age 10 and up to wear a face covering when approaching a distance of six feet from others, in enclosed shared workplaces, in building common areas, and when working in food service. Chinatown Walkway Weekends which shut down car traffic on Grant between California and Washington streets every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m are expected to run for nine more weeks, until September 20. Wong estimates that five restaurants participated this weekend, setting out tables where ordinarily there would be cars.
