Friends of Campsurf, We need your help. The County sent us a letter this week stating that they would not reinstate our beach permits for at least another 3 mon...ths! (They’ve already closed us down for 2 1/2 months during our busiest time of year). This unbelievable decision flies in the face of all emerging science which points out that outdoor environments in sunlight are actually the safest places you can be right now. Meanwhile, the county is currently reopening retail stores and restaurants will be opening soon. While we applaud the fact these businesses are allowed to reopen, it’s impossible to follow the county’s logic as indoor, enclosed environments have been proven to be higher risk environments. At Campsurf, safety has been our primary concern since 1997. Tens of thousands of parents have trusted us to keep their kids safe while teaching them ocean safety and having a lot of fun doing it. We have established Covid safety protocols which are already in place and ready to go as soon as we get the green light. We are getting lots of calls and emails from parents who want us to take their kids out right now. We are playing by the rules and staying shut down while other unlicensed surf camps are running non-stop. Please help us by writing to our county officials and asking them to allow us to reopen like all other areas of society-most of which are much higher risk than the beach or ocean.
