Every Monday we will shoutout a Black organization or leader that is making a positive impact in the Black community. This week, the spotlight is on 2nd Call .... Skipp Townsend created 2nd Call as way to help previous offenders/felons and high-risk individuals avoid going to prison. 2nd Call holds court-appointed, trauma-informed classes that get to the root of an individual’s pain and teaches them how to cope with it in more positive ways than committing crimes. 2nd Call has also helped hundreds of individuals get union jobs to keep them employed and out of our criminal justice system. Offenders that partake in 2nd Calls program have only a 2% chance of recidivism (going back to jail/prison).
