Christian parents bring their children to Him, stand them before Him in that holy school, which is called the Church. Here, upbringing is pursued according to all the laws of human development. First through the senses by impressions. As a person recognizes and begins to love the beauty of nature in its general features before any learning, by becoming familiar with it through simple contemplation and childhood experiences, so in the Church the first notions of God, the ear...liest and more important in the person’s life, come through the contemplation of images, actions, symbols pointing to the spiritual world. The mother, the object of all the love and tenderness of the child, stands with a reverent expression and prays before the Savior’s icon; the child looks at her, then the image and does not require long explanations of what it means. This is the first, silent lesson of the Knowledge of God. The child in church: the beauty of the church, the lighting, the bright vestments of the priesthood, the singing and silence of those standing and praying while facing the sanctuary, the holy activities, the lack of everyday objects, the forbidding of irreverent movements, the demand for attention to something higher, special these are lessons of reverence before God, which cannot be replaced by any fancy speech of a religious teacher. In these lessons, one cannot notice the moment at which the children begin to understand what is being read or sung in the church; we only know that we loved our Savior long before the lessons in the Law of God, because we often heard readings about Him, prayed to Him often, kissed His Gospel, cried about Him when the Gospel of His Passions were read, and rejoiced with all our hearts, celebrating His Bright Resurrection. This abundance of blessed influences and the very grace of God is what parents deprive their children of by not taking them to church to receive Holy Communion and not taking them to church from infancy, for the empty reason that the child doesn’t understand anything as if only an analyzing wisdom is the guide of all influences acting on the development of a person! Here, especially, is where religious feeling is instilled, the main engine of spiritual life. The loss of this time and this method of developing the heart is a loss that is irreparable. Later, the child will assimilate even abstract notions, and will begin to repeat lessons, but the heart, which is already occupied by other influences and tendencies, will be dull and deaf to spiritual impressions. Dismantling Christian Civilization The ultimate goal of ANTIFA and BLM is to dismantle Western Christian Civilization For all those individuals who have seen th...e mass demonstrations in the streets of Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Washington, and countless other cities across the country, and still believed we were, as the mayor of Seattle proclaimed, coming upon a summer of love, I would call your attention to what happened in Portland a month or so ago. The usual peaceful demonstration that took place in front of the Federal Courthouse saw the burning of an American flag, but for we Christians, the much more ominous burning of Bibles. How on earth could these people think they were demonstrating for equal rights for our black citizens, and an end of police brutality, by burning bibles? We must not allow ourselves to be naive enough to believe these protests and riots are anything but an attempt to dismantle all of Western Civilization and upend centuries of Christian tradition. The time honored freedom of religion that our forefathers fought for, and enshrined in the Bill of Rights, is now being attacked by the same spirit of Antichrist that brought down the god-anointed Imperial government of Russia during the Bolshevik Revolution. Christianity is swiftly being replaced by an atheistic Nihilism that is disguised as human rights for all, while police are being vilified, defunded, and in some cases, disbanded. This is all happening while unthinking political and academic types (and some religious leaders) are surrendering to a political ideology that is anything but based on logic and reason, and is showing clear signs of having surrendered to a form of Marxism that is the most dangerous ideology that our country has faced in her history. Now is the time when true Christians need to stand firm in the Faith received from the Apostles, and cling to the mercy of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Our nation will continue this downward fall into the abyss unless we all, collectively, repent. A nation that has one of the highest abortion counts in the world, and has a history of interfering in the internal affairs of countries across the globe, must repent, and return to the slogan printed on our money, In God we Trust. We must, once again, become One Nation, under God. We must, as a people, come together in peaceful resolve to turn our nation around, and embrace our democratic and religious heritage, before it is too late. With love in Christ, Abbot Tryphon
