Argh, it isn't just the Holiday Season, it is Porch Pirate Season. You can prevent becoming a victim of package theft by: 1. Using package tracking services to know when a package will be delivered and quickly bring them inside when they are delivered. 2. Consider shipping Site to Store or to an Amazon Locker or other services that will allow the delivery person access to a safe place to put packages and prevent them from sitting out and being seen. ... 3. If you can't be home when a package is delivered, ask a neighbor to pick it up for you and secure it at their home until you can retrieve it. #informedfolsom #porchpirates #akathegrinchwhostolechristmas See more

The FPD Elves are heading back from their Santa Sleigh trip and wanted to remind you of our Three Main Safety Tips: Remove your valuables from your vehicle- including packages and presents that may be in the backseat or trunk. Lock your car and your doors. Don't worry, knows how to get in on the big night! Turn on your outside lights. Criminals don't like to be seen and it helps the reindeer see your roof better!... #9pmroutine #informedfolsom #buddytheelf #elf #lockitorloseit

Folsom Police Department Detectives arrested three suspects on November 21, 2020 for furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors. The Folsom Police Department conducted a program called a Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation which targets adults who purchase alcohol for people less than 21 years of age. Under the program, a minor under the direct supervision of a peace officer will stand outside a liquor or convenience store and ask patrons to buy them alcohol. The minor indicates ...in some way he or she is underage and cannot purchase the alcohol. If the adults agree to purchase alcohol for the minor, Detectives then arrest and cite them for furnishing alcohol to the minor. The penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1000 fine and 24 hours of community service. The program is intended to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors. Statistics show they generally have a higher rate of drunk driving crashes than adults. Studies also show the combination of alcohol and youth tends to increase criminal conduct. According to the American Medical Association, underage drinking can increase chances of risky sexual behavior and teen pregnancy, juvenile delinquency, compromise health, and result in unintentional injury and death. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) through the department’s Grant Assistance Program. ABC is a Department of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.

T'is the season for scams... We have been advised that there have been phone calls to local residents claiming to be a law enforcement officer. These callers will say that there is an active warrant for your arrest and that you can clear up these warrants by providing the caller with money, typically in the form of a prepaid card, such as a GreenDot card. Please keep in mind, if you have a warrant out for your arrest, local law enforcement does not call you to give you a head...s up or give you the chance to clear them with a payment. Be safe- do not give out credit card numbers or identifying information out over the phone to someone who has called you. Do not provide callers with gift cards or pre-paid cards as a payment. As always, we are here to help. If you receive a call you believe may be a scam, do not provide any information to the caller and hang up. If you believe you may be a victim of a phone scam, please contact us at our non-emergency number at 916-355-7231. #InformedFolsom #phonescam
