Here she is ladies and gentlemen! Today we received a visual confirmation of our beloved Cressman’s cat Momma Kitty. A little bit angry, but nevertheless alive and well. The true definition of perseverance!

Yesterday we were honored to be a part of something we believe will bring help to where it’s needed most, our community and our forests. Immediately after the fire our heads were reeling. The surreal days were filled with grief. Not only grief for our home and Cressman’s but grief for our neighbors homes and our beautiful forest. That grief turned into the need to help. As we sat and discussed different ideas with the people surrounding us we focused on two areas ... our fore...st and the people who have been affected. Not only cleaning up the burned areas but making sure the areas that survived will continue to be healthy and thrive. We learned of another family, the MacDonald family, who lost their historical family cabin who were looking to do the same- help the forest and the community. It seemed natural to join forces and give life to our ideas. With a force of nature Sahara Saude-Bigelow behind the helm, the Sierra Mountain Resiliency Fund was born. With support from the Sierra Historical Society we are able to ensure these donations are tax deductible and will go to those who need it. Yesterday we launched this effort. We embarked into an unknown territory to help rebuild our community and forest. We started by planting trees at Cressman’s with our Ridgetop 4H group. They are a small symbol of the hope to come. We will help those in need by bringing resources directly to them. We will be posting here about those resources and how to access them. We hope to provide support in terms of educational resources as well, as finding even the starting point for clean up is difficult as is navigating permits and the rebuild process. We are happy to say we are in the planning process for the new store. Beautiful things are in the works! If you have a specific need and think we can help send us a private message and we will see if we can! We will keep you posted about tree plantings and community clean ups we can coordinate once it is safe to do so. - The Gillett’s This couldn’t have been possible without the help of: Sahara Saude-Bigelow and Osterberg Farms If you would like to support the resiliency fund or learn more visit: https://sierrahistorical.org/give-to-resiliency-fund/

We have been absolutely humbled by the amount of support from the Cressman’s community. Whether it’s words of encouragement, a donation, a supportive hug or your prayers, we see and feel all of your love. Everyday doesn’t seem as dark and as the sunny skies are returning our spirits are lifting. We hope we can offer some solace to those who have lost their homes, cabins or businesses. We will rebuild with you. If you choose not to rebuild we will be here when you come for a... visit with a cookie for you . We miss seeing your smiling faces. We miss laughing with you. The community gathering was a step towards healing to reunite and feel each other’s strength. Thank you to everyone volunteering to bring resources to the community. If anyone needs assistance and they feel Cressman’s or the Gillett Family can provide that, please let us know. Mountain Strong Forever and from the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU See more

We would like to share these amazing pictures by Doug Mac and beautiful words by Sandy Mohler and we encourage you to comment your favorite memory at Cressmans We have all been following the heartbreak that has and is continuing to ravage your beautiful mountain. Our mountain. And we are overwhelmed with grief for so much loss. Cressman’s has been responsible for so many memories over the years.... early days waving to Sunny on the way to Huntington.... the point at which... all of our Are we there yet Dad? questions ceased, because you knew that you were.... the place where on your way to Huntington , Shaver/Edison you stop for the best-ever snickerdoodle and salted caramel cookies to power you up the hill.... the place where bumbleberry pie means there’s a family gathering soon.... the place where you can pick up delicious meals because you just don’t want to spend much time in the kitchen once you get there; you just want to breathe in the beautiful air and soak in every memory of day’s gone by.... the place where you stop and rejoice in seeing familiar faces welcoming you to the mountain .... the place where you stop on the way back home and load up on bierocks and frog balls (who knew?!) to get you through the next week trying to hang on to the magical time that you just as you’re back to navigating through the crazy of every day life. The place that we know you’re going to rebuild, because it’s meant so many things to so many people; restoring some of the much needed history that the mountain has lost, and bringing so much hope to a grieving community. Most of us have spent so much time up there . We feel our own memories dying with the destruction. Others may have not been there but have been equally gutted by the losses. We all need to see you rebuild too. So we are cheerIng you on in your efforts and we hope that with all of our breaking hearts our support will help in whatever way you need to bring some light back into our days. - Witten By Sandy Mohler @sandy_tooth Pictures 2, 3 & 4 Photo Credits: Doug Mac @archaeofile #creekfire See more
