JOIN OUR TEAM! Become a City Advisory Board Member! The City of Pacific Grove is looking for committed residents who want to help shape the future of the City by participating in important conversations regarding equity, access to affordable housing, neighborhood and commercial design and development, and potential amendments to the City’s zoning code and general plan to help facilitate the City’s progress into the future. With the recent certification of our Local Coastal P...rogram, the City has review authority for development in the Coastal zone for the first time in our history! This brings many exciting challenges and opportunities in terms of resource conservation and design. The Planning Commission will soon be embarking on updates to our Housing and Safety Elements of the General Plan and are looking for individuals who are ready to innovate and engage with the community in new ways! Are you ready for the challenge? There are currently vacancies on the Architectural Review Board and the Historic Resources Committee, and two seats will be up on the Planning Commission in January. These boards are advisory to the City Council, but they are also quasi-judicial in that they are the review authority for a variety of permits and other entitlements. Beaches throughout the Monterey Bay will be closed Friday, 9/4 through Monday, 9/7 during Labor Day weekend to reduce overcrowding and slow the spread of COVID-19. These include all beaches from Big Sur to Santa Cruz operated by California State Parks, cities, and counties. Ocean activities are still allowed, but beach use activities are prohibited. In addition to municipal and State beach closures in Pacific Grove, Ocean View Boulevard Parking Turnouts and Lovers Point Park will remain closed through Monday, 9/7 to reinforce social distancing and reduce large public gatherings.
