This morning, Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus joined the Heroes and Helpers event at Target in Lathrop. This gave us a chance to share some holiday joy with over 40 kids. Check out some of the highlights. Thank you to Lathrop Manteca Fire District, Stockton Unified School District Police Department, and many more for your help in making this event successful.

Patrol units rammed... Shortly before 1:00 am today, while assisting Stockton PD to help suppress the recent increase in violence, our deputies assigned to AGNET (Agriculture, Gangs, and Narcotics Enforcement Team) came across a vehicle with illegal blue lighting under glow, that came back reported stolen. They attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of Wilson Way and Hwy 4 in Stockton, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed on the freeway. A pursuit was init...iated and during this, the driver attempted to have the deputies’ crash into him, by hitting his brakes multiple times. The suspect then went up Interstate 5 freeway off-ramp the wrong way, as one of our marked Sergeant Patrol Units was coming off the freeway. He rammed that vehicle almost head-on, and took off back onto the freeway, violating rules of the road the entire time. The suspect vehicle was then seen blacked out travelling in the proper way southbound on the freeway, at which point our deputies re-engaged in the pursuit. He got off on Eight Street, continuing westbound. The pursuit continued in the same manner, with the suspect hitting his brakes multiple times, trying to get the unit to crash. The suspect turned into a dead end court, where his car was rammed in an effort to disable the vehicle. The suspect was able to use his vehicle to ram the back end of another patrol unit and an unoccupied parked car to get out. His car was found disabled a short distance later, in the area of Volpi Drive in Stockton, where it was abandoned. Jose De Jesus Almaras, 35, was located in the area by SPD and taken into custody. During a pat-down search, Almaras was found to have methamphetamine on his person. A search of the vehicle found a large amount of methamphetamine in individually wrapped baggies. Almaras was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for several felonies, including vehicle theft, being in possession of a stolen vehicle, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, resisting arrest, transporting a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sale, evading police with wanton disregard for safety and battery on a peace officer. His bail is set at $1,130,000. Luckily, no one was injured during this incident, which was a #teamwork effort between our office, SPD and CHP. Thank you! #sjsostrong #notinourcounty #StrongerTogether #SPD #StocktonCHP

Sexual predator arrested Thanks to the help of our community members, after a lengthy investigation, a search warrant was served today at the 1900 block of 9th Street in Stockton. A well-known member within the Hispanic community for his gift of massage (despite not having any schooling in the matter) Emiliano Canada-Vargas, 53, was arrested for several felonies including forcible rape and sexual assault.... At this time we have several victims that were very brave to come forward. However, Canada-Vargas has been in this business for approximately 30 years and people come to see him from all over. We believe there may be other victims. If you or someone you know has been a victim of his, we ask that you contact Detective Arreola at 209-468-4425 or 209-468-4443. You can remain anonymous. **Help us by getting the word out and sharing this post.
