Hats off to Jack's brother and extended family who worked tirelessly to sort through thousands upon thousands of Jack Freeman paintings, drawings, and watercolors after Jack passed away in 2014. And lucky to those who now have Jack Freeman paintings hanging in their homes... These photos are but a fraction...

Jack Freeman passed away in 2014. We all really miss him still. And, that thought can co-exist with our being thankful that Jack was spared the worst of what surely would have killed him if the cancer hadn't i.e. the last four years. Jack was hardcore progressive in his political leanings. Family and friends all received Jack's weekly, sometimes daily political dispatches and even some of the most left leaning of us would look with a raised eyebrow now and again. Suffice t...o say, Jack was lucky not to have endured these last years. There wouldn't have been enough cannabis in the world to get him both through cancer AND tRump. Born-in-Georgia Jack is I hope at least smiling now. Thank you Georgia. #Georgia #georgiablue #2020election See more

Jack Freeman’s 1608 Harrison street art studio and the Eagle Bar made for unlikely neighbors but so it was for more than 35 years. Will this iconic SOMA bar survive the pandemic?

Prescient? Jack Freeman spent the better part of 50 years capturing the Bay Area's city and landscapes. Much of Jack's earlier work was impressionistic but in later years he pivoted to Fauvist scapes gleaned from in and around Noe Valley. This 2011 oil on canvas painting (street not specified) captures an orange sky evocative of the apocalyptic skies to which SF residents woke up on September 9th, 2020.
